One more week to go!
It was a rough weekend for both teams. A tie we should have won and a loss we should have won also.
Sidekicks (U10): What a game! Technically we looked better than the Go Fast Girls. We had better ball-handling, more goal attempts, better defense, etc. It doesn't help that we only got 1 of 12 goal attempts into the net---we had so many that just grazed over or by the bars. They didn't have any zone/structure and crowded the ball causing our girls to bounce a lot off of them. But when it comes down to it they got 2 goals in compared to our 1. But that doesn't mean they were the better team.....so...there! :)
We are seeded 4th so that puts us playing Saturday, Nov 3rd against the Strikers, but they're in a tournament and so we'll probably be rescheduled. The rules allow for reschedules only in cases of weather or tournament play.
Game: Thurday, Nov 1 at 6:00pm vs Strikers field C3 (this is the reschedule)
snacks: Angelica & Anastazia
SuperStars (U8): We're not supposed to keep score but we do and it was a tie. 1-1; We know we sound like a broken record but we really outplayed those Little Angels. All they did was kick the ball out of bounds. That works to keep from losing games in this division but when we move onto C-fields later---they will wear themselves out, the ball won't go that far, and we'll have a better game. Truly, we should have won that game--we need to get more accurate goal attempts and we're there.
Allen Banuelos (Lexi's dad) Tumbleweed Body Shop in Wolfforth is sponsoring our team in the tournament and our only cost will be $7 for our shirts. More to come on that soon.
Game: Saturday, Nov 3 at 10:30am vs Angels (from our 1st game) field B9
Snacks: Annalyssa

Windy Week 6
Can't tell if the wind hurt or helped....we had a win for the Sidekicks and a loss for the SuperStars. The umbrellas definitely got a work out. So much for shade.
Sidekicks (U10): What is there to say? We started a little "off' but came around. We squeaked by 4-3....it was close! Those Raiderettes have come around a bit since the last time we met up with them. Miraculously, there is a 3-way tie for first place in our division so we are technically in second place...ha...ha... :)
But seriously, if we win our next game, we will play one of those top three teams (likely the Strykers due to points allowed) in the 3rd vs 4th seeded game. What progress we've made! Remember a few weeks ago when we were discouraged because LSA put us in the same division as these top teams. Now (with the exception of those 3 teams) we're actually winning some games! Yea for us!
Practice: Tuesday, Oct 23 at 6:00pm at Cook Park (changed due to weather)
Game: Saturday, Oct 27 vs Go Fast Girls at 12:00PM field C3
Snacks: Bethanie
SuperStars (U8): So we didn't take losing as hard this time, but there were lots of tears out there. At one point, we counted 3 different girls turning on the waterworks. The girls played their hearts out and it really gets to them when the other team still keeps getting ahead. The score was 11-8. It was so fast paced, it was hard to keep up.
If it makes anyone feel better, Lonestar has beaten most of their opponents by at least 15 points. Also, Desi got a first-thing-Monday-morning call from Arthur (Lonestar coach) telling him how great that game was.....it was their first REAL challenge of the season, they were worried, we have a great team, etc...etc...etc. After all these complements, we decided to let it go that they got really rough in the 4th quarter with all that pushing and win-at-all-costs play...it felt like he was calling to make amends and wave the peace flag.
Our next game is against the Little Angels who are also pretty aggresive...so we should be ready.
Practice: Thurs, Oct 25 at 6:15 at Cook Park
Game: Saturday, Oct 27 at 4:30 pm vs Little Angels field B9
Snacks: Chloe & Sydnie

Week 5 done, 3 to go!
It was a tough weekend with both teams losing to opponents that might be similar to our level.
Sidekicks (U10): It was a tough loss to the Diamonds 6-2; That places them in 3rd with us following at 4th place for our division--not so bad considering the remaining teams should be easier to deal with. We still have to play hard though...We stayed to watch a bit of the Majik vs Strykers game in what promised to be a 1st-vs-2nd place type match up----Majik won 3-0 with their defense shutting the Strykers out. Through five games no one has scored against Majik except us. We are the only team this season to score against them! (2 pts)
Practice: Monday, Oct 15 at Cook Park @ 6:30pm
Game: Saturday, Oct 20 @3:00 pm vs Raiderettes field C3
Snacks: Naomi
SuperStars (U8): What a toughy! 4-1 for the Hot Shots. Those Hot Shots played some great defense and kept us out of scoring position---all those missed shots on our side didn't help a lot either. The girls took it harder than we ever thought they would. We probably have one of the strongest teams as far as most talented players, but where there's talent---there's competition..........we'll work on not competing with each other at practice. The girls are young.....looking a year into the future--the goal will be bigger, a goalie will be there, positions will define the gray areas, passing will be smoother, crowding will be less, etc.
Lonestar is the best team in our division so we need to look toward the future and focus on beating them.
Practice: Thursday, Oct 18 @ Cook Park @ 6:00 pm
Game: Saturday, Oct 20 vs Lonestar at 1:30pm same field

Half-way through the Season
Check out the scrapbooks/slideshow on the right (your right) side of the blog.
Well, we're half way through the season...4 down, 4 to go. It seems crazy, but it goes by so fast!
SideKicks U10: Another victory, now that the top two teams are out of the way, it seems like we got our groove back. Our final score against the Red Hots was 7-2. It was a tight first half, but we wore them down and managed to hold them from scoring in the last half while we scored our majority of goals there. Our next game is against the Diamonds--they're very good in some areas, not in others-----we could beat them with a solid performance
Next Game: Sat, Oct 13 @ 9:00 am vs Diamonds Field C3
Snacks: Kristen & McKaley
Practice: Monday,10-8 6:15 (getting darker sooner) at Cook Park (17th & Kirby)
SuperStars U8: Final Score 7-3;It was another hard fought win against the BumbleBees...the teams keep getting better and better every season. Like everything, the girls that really want to play keep coming back while the others move on leaving those good ones to keep competing...so it'll keep getting harder. Keep practicing so we can keep up with the Joneses...so to speak
Next Game: Sat, Oct 13 @ 4:30 vs HotShots
Snacks: Faith
Practice: Monday, 10-8 @6:15 (getting darker) at Cook Park (17th & Kirby) -- Desi has a conflict on Thurday this week

Week 3 down; 5 to go!
Pictures are this week at practice------don't forget to wear your uniforms!
It was a hot weekend...can't decide if it's better to be hot or huddled under the blackets watching the girls freeze...there's never really a happy medium.
Sidekicks U10: Great Job DEFENDERS!!!!!
Losing is never easy.Especially shut-out at 4-0. Those Strykers were #1 in our division last year. We're not sure who will be first between Majik or Strykers this season--Majik has lots of talent and Strykers have been together since they were 4 yrs old leading to enhanced teamwork. So holding them to zero points for most of the first half was great. That said, we have the 2 best teams in our division out of the way---that leaves 2 more similar to our level so we have a good chance to seed 3rd or 4th with some hard work.
Practice: Monday, Oct 1 at 6:30 Cook Park: picture day
Game: Saturday Oct 6 at 12:00 vs Red Hots
snacks: Jocelyn
SuperStars U8: What a close one; Even though they did the drop ball, we say the score was 5-4--you can't stop goals on a supposed injury! Either way, it was very close and we'll have to work on better strategy and player interaction. We really need to work on defense...everyone wants to handle the ball and make points but defense is a HUGE part of competitive play later and actually makes the girls (see U10 notes) better offensive players.
Practice: Thursday, Oct 4 at 6:30 Kastman Park for pictures
Game: Saturday, Oct 6 at 4:30 vs Bumble Bees
snacks: Mica
