Sidekicks:
Way to go girls! Extreme is a very good team...they took 1st place in their division last season. So keeping the lead until the final tie was GREAT! We think the team has finally gotten comfortable enough with each other to start working as a team. We will work on more dribbling, the fowards making more goals, and the guards not letting anything to get through.

Our games on Friday & Saturday were great! If we didn't have to work against the wind so much, it would help. We burned the Burn and came close to getting even with Extreme. We have not been able to beat them for years...but we're getting closer. Our team has been together for so long now that our girls are truly a TEAM and know how to work together---did you see the passing at the games? They're getting it--teamwork and that's the whole idea.

Soccer Updates 4-16
Sidekicks: Yea! We finally got to play some ball...some very cold & windly soccer. It looks like over the weekend we got the defense down. Now we just need to work on making some points (shots!)
On Saturday 4-14-07 against the Diamonds, we had some jitters. The experienced girls felt anxious and the newer girls weren't sure what to do. By the end of the half, it seemed they had worked it out. Of course, we lost 6 (or 7) to 1, but we learned. We now know which girls are naturally guards (fullbacks) and who are the fowards.
Sunday, 4-15-07 we played the Blue Angels who seemed comparable to our team. We (barely) lost 1-0. If they hadn't lucked out on the chance shots after the penalty kick, they would have never made their only point. We missed a few shots, too. But our guards (FB) really got a work out. We think most of games will probably be like this for the season--very defensive. We are playing teams that were top in their divisions last season and have been playing together for a long time. Our team will need to work on building relationships with each other and trusting the other girl. It'll get there.
Practice: Thursday, 4-19 @ 6:15pm at the complex.

Maybe someday we'll play some soccer!
Okay, so the weekend was another bust!
Side Kicks--our opponent resceduled due to "conflicting obligations", but it didn't matter because the entire day was resceduled due to the SNOW! So now we'll have to see when the rescheduling appears online. As for practice, it looks like we'll be practicing on Tuesday, 4-10 at 6:30 at the complex. Then play on 4-14 @1:30 and have our first make up game on Sunday, 4-15 @ 1:30.
SuperStars--Yea! We finally played a game on Thursday and the girls did EXCEPTIONAL (even if we lost 3-6 .) Ya gotta remember that Lonestar is a soccer club and won every game they played last season, but we held them off until the end. Great defense & offense! We'll work on more dribbling to get the offense up to speed. Practice should be Thursday 4-12 at 6:30 at the complex. We have a "bi" this week because of the Khol's Tournament. So we'll practice one more time after that until our next game on 4-21.

This weekend of soccer
SuperStars are scheduled to play Thursday at 6:00pm (make up game against Lonestar) and Saturday at 10:30pm. So there is no practice on Friday. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we may get to play some SOCCER! That would be nice!
